Lead Editor vacancy – apply now

We are seeking an ecologist who is highly motivated in advancing the publication of applied ecological research to join the team of Editors on Ecological Solutions and Evidence, a recently launched BES open access journal. Deadline Friday 17 April 2020.

We are seeking an ecologist with strong connections in ecological management and practice to join the current editorial team, collaborating with the Editor-in-Chief and Lead Editor to develop this new Journal’s profile and reach worldwide. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the strategy and development of an innovative journal and publishing model aiming to better bridge the gap between research and practice in ecology.

The ideal candidate will be a clear communicator who works well as part of a team and a good decision-maker who acts with integrity. They will have a solid understanding of their own field of ecology (candidates with expertise in marine or freshwater systems are particularly welcome), as well as an overview of the wider discipline; a desire to improve connections between research and practice; experience of reviewing and editing processes; and an interest in ongoing developments within academic publishing. This post is a part-time three-year contract (current salary c. £3,000 per annum which equates to approximately €3,600 or $3,800) and located at the holder’s host university or organisation, based anywhere in the world. Some additional financial support is available to facilitate attendance at meetings with other BES Editors and to act as ambassadors for the Journal at relevant conferences.
